New York, I Love You

A companion piece to "Paris, Je T'aime", this valentine to New York is a tapestry of 12 love stories, each by a different filmmaker. From the Village to Brooklyn and Central Park to Queens, each tale features the Big Apple as a central character. The writer-directors include Natalie Portman and Brett Ratner, with an equally eclectic cast of Shia LaBeouf, James Caan, Julie Christie, Christina Ricci, Ethan Hawke and dozens more.

Lindsey and I saw this film last night and it was really great. I did not love it as much as I did "Je T'aime", it lacked an artistic swagger and delicacy the French version had, but some of the pieces provided a riveting and poignant cinematic response. Julie Christie's scenes were hypnotic and the Natalie Portman directed short film was enough to make you cry over its beauty. Her stunning cameo in the film, along with Irrfan Khan, was another favorite part.

"I used to be married to her, now I must worship her."
